Cultural Appropriation in Art
Summary:
Soulmaking is a process of self-expression and reconnecting with one’s inner self through crafting images, stories, instruments, movement, and techniques. Appropriation refers to borrowing recognizable images from different sources to create new art forms, without stealing or plagiarizing. It can occur within or across cultures. Improvisation is creating or performing something without prior preparation, often seen in various art forms such as music, theatre, and dance. It involves spontaneity and the exploration of new ideas.
